Bedroom To Bathroom Conversion

We have an en-suite! Woohoo!

After a year of living here with only one shower in the entire home (that leaked…) we are thrilled to have a luxurious bathroom to use! (with no leaks!)

This started as a bedroom (see before photo below)

So here was the plan!

Keep:
  • The window (and window trim)
  • Original stained baseboard
  • Great ceiling height
  • Original claw foot tub (taking from another bathroom in this house)
Remove:
  • Wallpaper
  • Ceiling fan
Add:
  • New walls (seal off original bedroom door, new opening to primary bedroom, closet walls)
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical
  • Tile
  • Fireplace (every bathroom needs a fireplace, right?!)
  • Shower glass
  • Vanity, toilet, etc.

Here are some during photos:

First photo: I refinished the pink tub to be a nice black with gold legs!

Second Photo: I painted a rubber backing before the tile went up as an added protection layer (it protects the drywall from moisture and mold in the event water gets through the grout)

Third Photo: The tile’s are starting to go in! Home stretch!

And just like that it was done! lol

Just kidding…a big renovation like this doesn’t happen overnight! We were taking a bedroom and turning it into a bathroom after all!

But I won’t keep you in suspense any longer…

Here are the after photos!

After Photos:

I know all anyone ever REALLY cares about is the pretty after photos.

But I want to talk about a few things anyway!

YES it’s a double shower, because well why not? I really couldn’t think of a good reason not to do it when we had the space!

I love the entire ‘relaxation zone’ we’ve set up – with the tub, window, fireplace, tv, and of course chandelier.

It’s really designed to not only allow for a couple to get ready efficiently in the mornings (2 showers, 2 sinks), but it’s also designed to allow for relaxation, luxury, and for enjoyment. Why shouldn’t we enjoy our time spent in the bathroom!?

Another neat feature I can’t show in photos (but you can see in the video) is the voice controlled privacy blind installed on the window. Yes! Voice controlled! How cool is it, we just simply say “Bathroom Privacy” and the blind lowers covering the window. It’s a really cool feature to have and allows us control over that window without having to get in the tub to manually lower a blind!

I hope this gives you lots of inspiration for any future bathroom renovations you plan to do and helps you plan a more luxurious bathroom for your space.
