Before & After – The Yellow Brick Flip

Our Paris investment is complete – this renovation is done! Yes, it was supposed to be a ‘flip’ but we ended up keeping this property – what we did with it and how it’s going will be in the next blog…

For now, I want to show you all the before and after photos, enjoy!

Wow! I love this exterior makeover! 

What we did:

  • New windows
  • New soffit/facia/eaves and downspouts
  • New driveway
  • Fence cleaning
  • Paint, paint and more paint!

And the backyard got a big overhaul!

What we did:

  • New siding on addition
  • New windows/soffit/facia/eaves/downspouts
  • New deck
  • Garden clean up
  • New roof on back deck

Oh the front porch! It’s a dream porch, really! The perfect spot to sit during a rain storm to enjoy the sound and read a book.

What we did:

  • Remove old blinds
  • Replace broken window panes
  • Replace glass on porch door
  • Paint ceiling and walls
  • Paint doors
  • Swap out light for a new fan
  • Pull up old carpet, lay down new layer of concrete, paint stencil on to new concrete

What we did:

  • remove carpet
  • remove wallpaper
  • New light fixture and add pot lights
  • Refinish hardwood flooring and stairs
  • Paint ceiling, walls, trim
  • Paint stair risers white and stair railing black

Dining room turned living room. 

What we did:

  • Strip the floor and refinish
  • Replace light fixture
  • Remove wallpaper
  • Add crown moulding and chair rail
  • Add built in fireplace and mantle
  • Paint ceiling, walls and trim

Dining room overhaul! Open concept here we come!

What we did:

  • Remove wall between kitchen and dining room
  • Remove carpet and old blinds
  • Refinish hardwood flooring
  • Replace light fixture
  • Install new crown moulding
  • Paint ceiling, walls, and trim
  • Install decorative beam between kitchen and dining room

Ok what!? How is this the same space!? And would you believe it’s even the same cabinets just reconfigured and sprayed!?

What we did:

  • remove cabinets
  • remove old tile flooring
  • lay new tile floor
  • spray cabinets white and blue
  • re-install freshly painted cabinets in new configuration
  • new countertop
  • Install appliances
  • new light fixtures and pot lights installed

Let’s take a look at the mudroom and adding a new bathroom!

What we did in the mudroom:

  • Remove carpeting
  • Install new tile
  • Replace light fixture
  • Paint
  • Install new cabinetry
  • Add wood accent wall

What we did in the bedroom:

  • Remove old flooring and cabinetry
  • Remove wallpaper
  • New plumbing added for laundry, toilet, vanity, and shower
  • New tile flooring
  • New shower base and shower tile
  • New vanity and toilet
  • Laundry machine and cabinetry installed

The Pink Room! Or green room…turned pink room!

What we did:

  • remove carpet, remove wall and mirrored doors
  • Remove ceiling fan and blinds
  • Refinish flooring
  • Paint
  • Install new light fixture

The Green Room!

This is the smallest room in the home, but still big enough for a queen size bed and all the essentials a bedroom would need!

What we did:

  • remove old closet system
  • sand and refinish flooring
  • skin coat walls to repair them
  • paint walls

The Blue Room.

The 3rd and final bedroom upstairs. With the perfect spot for a desk!

What we did:

  • Refinish the hardwood
  • Replace doors
  • Paint
  • New light fixture

Last room in this house is the bathroom! This was a full gut and re-do, including all the new plumbing and a layout change.

What we did:

  • full gut down to the studs
  • change the plumbing layout
  • install new drywall and tile
  • paint
  • install new bathtub and shower, vanity and toilet
  • replace the light fixtures
  • new door and trim

SO pleased with how this house turned out! So pleased in fact that we decided to keep it instead of sell it – and turn it into a great short term rental so others can enjoy the space and enjoy the beautiful town of Paris!
